Bazza you will be greatly missed. A loving husband, father and loyal friend. I have such wonderful memories of you at home on the back deck “shit stirring” us girls. I know you will be watching over Carol, Sheree, Nikki, Rachel and the kids. Fly high Barry. All my love Amber

Rest in Peace Barry, thank you for your service, the time has come to ‘stand down’ and move to the big parade ground and meet with old mates from long ago.

You are well remember from your time in 6 RAR.

      Bazza old mate

You were a big bastard, full of life and a joy to be with. Wonderful memories of joy and laughter plus the hard yakka we endured as young soldiers.

May your journey be a good one cobber and give our regards to all our other mates when you meet them in that heavenly jungle.

May you rest in peace mate while we who remain retain memories of our youth. You will be sorely missed.

Love and condolences to Carol and family.

To Carol and Family, we are so sorry to hear about the passing of Barry, it came as a shock to us when I came across it on the media site. We will always remember the times we had when we were neighbours at Wacol Army Village back in the 70/80s. Watching the Sullivans, tennis matches, card games and our dabble in the racing industry with our wine casks on a Saturday arvo.

We will pray much for your departure so that your soul can rest in peace with God, and now we are very sad but God will give us the strength to cope in the best way, Barry I will remember you with great joy. R.I.P. old mate.

Barry Fitton was responsible for turning a group of over 200 16 year olds from boys into soldiers. Many of us had memorable military careers based on the guidance and knowledge we received when we were most impressionable. He was firm but fair and most of all bloody funny when he chose to be. Certainly his example on how all people should be treated helped shape the lives of many of the young men he trained. I would like to thank his family as no doubt he sacrificed time with them to look after others.

To my LT. To my coach To my mentor. To my friend. Can’t thank you enough for looking out for me after my machine gun accident at Canungra. You saved me from getting railroaded which let me have a 27yr career in the military. The standards that you set I tried to uphold in my career and my dealings with everyone I’ve met. I’ll see you for a rum when it’s my turn. Deano

So sorry to hear of the passing of Barry, he and I served together with A Company 5 RAR Vietnam 69-70, a great friend in those day, fond memories of him, lots of laughs, I was only talking to my wife about him a couple of nights ago, she remembered Barry when he paid us a visit when we lived in Puckapunyal in the eighties. Another Tiger gone, Rest In Peace my friend.
