We both have been saddened by the loss of a great friend and great man. We were very privileged to become Dave’s friends and to have him share some of his stories, his philosophies, his achievements and his art, to which we proudly display one in our living room, a constant reminder of his amazing talents. His poetry lays on our coffee table in three booklets, to which we frequently thumb through and are immersed in the visions of his words. David was a truly gifted man and we were very privileged to have him in our lives. If we could be there today, listening to his life stories and supporting Pili, Beck, Dan, Dave and the family, we would be. We send our love to all. “To know him, is to live him.”
Vale David
David you were a true gentleman and touched the lives of everyone you met. The world has lost a great man. I know you made a huge impact on my son and we are very grateful to have known you. May you rest in peace and our deepest sympathy to Pili & families xxx
Love you Dad
With love ❣️ from lan and Rosa loved by all that new david lots of respect and loving memories from us both
David our friend and mentor rosa and ian will never forget you
Such a talented man and so many achievements, undiminished, in recent years, by a debilitating illness.
Some viewers of the funeral service may not have grasped the significance of the dark green sports shirts worn by several members of his family. The shirt was Lurch’s project (naturally!) for team members for the 2021 50th anniversary of the Deltas Aerobatic Team. That extra shirts bearing Lurch’s specific ‘slot’, Solo 2, were sourced was yet one of many touching tributes in this most complex of funeral services. Team members, Leader Bruce Grayson and Solo 1 Bill Simmonds have ‘crossed the bar’ ahead of Lurch.
Another tribute I can relate to is the rendition of ‘Danny Boy’, which, I suspect, has been with him since the family lived for a short time in Ireland, on their return from Australia. In the squadron, in 1970-71, Dave was prone to breaking out into this aire on occasions when he was a little ‘tired’!
May you rest in peace, after a life of so many accomplishments.

You’ll be missed so much. Was an honor to be apart of your life ❤️
A special human who achieved so much in their life. David is some one who I’ve looked up to. To have known David has been such a privilege and I look forward to having many more meaning conversations when we meet again. Until then, I know that we will all be filled with your love and memories around us.
I will miss you my friend, keep on flying high
Dave. Before and since you departure, hundreds of people that had been in both our worlds always softened when we spoke of you and a look of respect and love came into our eyes. You had a remarkable way about you that engendered friendship. Love from Corrie and Me. We will miss seeing you on this earth but will always see you in our hearts.
What a year we lost our father Bill solo 1 and now David Solo 2 , Bill spoke highly of David and was thrilled when David came to the house with the polo shirt for the 50th anniversary , he wore it with pride on his 92 birthday , so now they are back together doing aerobics on the other side , they will sadly be missed but never forgotten RIP legends
