I knew David as a geotechnical engineer in Golder and also in his musical career. What a wonderful man he was, much respected by his colleagues and a great value to the community.

Dear Margaret, Anna, Ivan, Ben Holly and Tobias
I’m sorry not to have been able to join you today, but thank you for the link to David’s service of farewell. I was most moved by the service, Ben’s words, Anna’s music – and of course, the beloved Rutter Amen. I have fond memories of David and his constant and capable presence, recording concerts, and on one occasion spending time helping Stephen Leek and me to record a poem set to Stephen’s music, at Goldieslie St. It was lovely to hear of David’s wonderfully full life, and I shall cherish my memories of him – and of you all. My warmest thoughts to you, Margaret, in your sorrow, and to all the family. Kindest regards from Jane Greenwood.

Dear Margaret Starr the Second, Anna, Ben and families,
Thank you for sharing this wonderful tribute to my Uncle David. We love you all and pray that you will be comforted in your sorrow.
David has been part of my life for the last 58 years. I remember David pulling me out of a pond by my left ankle when I pushed past him, and fell head first into the deep water (aged about 4). David saved my life because I am sure that I would not have saved myself, being overwhelmed by the experience. Love from Andrew, Margaret the third, Elizabeth and Joanna Starr.
