Jodi , you were so special, our Bushcare community is in disbelief, our sadness is beyond description.
RIP my friend
Jodi was a beautiful young lady. And so caring about everything she loved it so very very sad how it ended so soon and being so young. She loved grandma Rees so much. And I hope that they are back together in heaven now . God bless you Jodi . You will be sadly missed. Love Mark and moma ❤️

My Beautiful Cousin. I have said many times that my heart lies on the Sunshine Coast. A huge reason of that for me; was you. Your warmth, your welcome, your stunning hugs. I loved your knowledge about all living things and your passion for sharing that with others. Your empathy for others, that is so similar to your Mum’s. How much fun it was to play games with you, climb with you, sing with you and dance with you. I loved watching you clearly become the most natural Mummy. You will be so deeply missed Jodi, but I finish with this “unable are the loved to die, for love is immortality.” Sending the hugest warm heart squeezes to all your incredible family. Jodi, we never met but you were special for my brother Jean-François. Knowing him, I’m sure you were a great friend and woman to share time with. I think you are in peace now, and I wish that everyone who is suffering today from your death will find some kind of closure and serenity over time.

Dear Jodi, what a positive difference you made to many peoples lives and to the natural environment. Positive differences that survive and will continue to grow.
After returning to Brisbane after a long absence I ran into you at the SOWN nursery. We caught up and you connected me with the walking the creek project. As a team we worked with Brendan and John and the many characters that love and care for Enoggera and Fish creeks. We worked to get a better picture of the locations and identities of the old growth trees remaining along the creeks and record the ecological values. The results enabled the production of the Gap Rainforest Statement of Significance which helped grow more love and understanding for these creeks and forests in the community and helped gain grant funding to help start significant work on regenerating vegetation on wattle creek. This is just one story to tell about you and your impact and contribution. The seeds you planted are continuing to grow and bear fruit. Thanks for these gifts.
Go well Jodi may the sun shine on you as you watch over us and may your world be full of smiles knowing you were so loved. Your boys may not have you their big tree to hold them when the wind blows… please know there are a lot of smaller trees surrounding them ready to reach out and support them.

I remember an extraordinary woman dressed in a flowing golden gown, shivering and exquisitely beautiful, standing next to Josh on a granite exquisite, their faces glowing with love and the light of a gorgeous winter sunset.
I remember her welcome and good food when I arrived to visit them in Nz with my teenaged boys, Bran and Calam.
I remember a woman who paralleled my own experiences in the bush, on adventures and enthusiasm for the beautiful natural world we live in.
I’ll keep the work going Jodi and family. I promise that.

Dearest Jodi,
I miss you incredibly, I grieve for you and your family. Your compassion and kindness were unmatched; I will miss your infectious radiant smile and the way your eyes lit up to match that smile. I have such fond memories growing up with you. Us meeting as primary school kids doing nerdy after school activities, our trip to Sydney when we ate far too many lollies for a car ride, the dribble sandcastles on Mooloolaba beach, most recently exploring Tasmania and my farm, seeing a place I am familiar with, but in a new light with your deep botanical knowledge.
Your kindness as we contemplated life changes and decisions across the decades, these deep conversations were always filled with warmth, compassion and support.
I will miss you forever, and look to the sky to send my love when I hear the shrill of a black cockatoo. Thank you for being in my life, and allowing me to be part of your adventure.

Jodi, I’ll remember you generous, cheeky laughter each time I pass the bumble bee cottage here in Lyttelton. Thankyou for all the thoughtful mahi you did while working at our regional council here in Canterbury. You were a star to work with. Ngā mihi nui my friend.
Though the miles kept us apart, the warm memories of my kind, wonderful, and inspiring niece will always stay with me. Sending all my love and deepest condolences to the family.
Kia Ora Jarrah, Merrin, Josh and Jodi’s family and friends
Jarrah and Merrin – I’m not sure if you will remember, but our two families spent great times together while you were living in Lyttelton. We walked Te Ara Pātaka track on Banks Peninsula over three days in wet foggy weather, to Wharfedale Hut near Oxford and Woolshed Creek Hut near Mt Somers along with other walking adventures, dinner parties, weddings, meeting new babies and picnics.Jodi also worked with us at Environment Canterbury in Christchurch. Merrin you are a similar age to our twins Madeleine and Mathias so you were all little together on our adventures, with Jarrah a bit bigger and Ishoa bigger again. We are sorry we didn’t make it over to Brisbane to see you since you moved to Australia. We are very saddened at Jodi’s passing, it has been and will continue to be difficult to get our heads around, but in our hearts and memories we will continue to reflect on all our wonderful memories of Jodi and the times we spent with your family.

I was lucky enough to work alongside Jodi in biodiversity and conservation work in Canterbury.
What I remember most is not the projects, although there were many, but Jodi herself. She brought warmth, kindness, humour and enthusiasm wherever she went. She cared deeply about nature and the people around her, and had a wonderful way of making both colleagues and friends feel valued.
When she moved to Australia, our team felt her absence immediately. We genuinely missed her. Even after she left, we stayed in touch, sharing updates about work, family, plants, conservation and life in general. She always remained interested in the people and places she had left behind.
I am grateful to have known her and to have called her a friend. My thoughts are with her family and all those whose lives she touched.

Dearest Jodi,
How lucky was I to have my best friend living right next door in the late 1980s and early 1990s. You were always at my house, or I was at yours, doing all the wonderfully ordinary things that teenage girls do.
Our days were filled with mainly just hanging out – but I also have fond memories of shopping at places like Sportsgirl, movies in the city, and eagerly sharing our latest Dolly and Girlfriend magazines. Your family became like a second family to me, and I have so many beautiful memories of those years. I still remember us all getting together to watch Let the Blood Run Free, and the worrying time you came off a horse and suffered a head injury, with my dad rushing your mum up from Brighton to the Sunshine Coast Hospital.
You initially had dreams of becoming an architect, but your true passion was always the environment. You had such a beautiful connection with the earth and nature, and that stayed with you throughout your life.
I missed you terribly when you moved back to the Sunshine Coast, but even though life took us in different directions, you were never forgotten.
Oh Jodi, it is so incredibly hard to believe that you are no longer in this world. You were such a beautiful human — so grounded, loving, gentle and deeply connected to nature.
Although we hadn’t properly spoken for a few years, apart from our little “Happy Birthday” exchanges on Facebook, I always loved seeing glimpses of your life and following your adventures from afar. It was lovely to see that beautiful spirit of yours always shining through.
My heart breaks for Marilyn, Simon, Jarrah, Merrin and the rest of your beautiful family. I am sending you all so much love.
Until we meet again, dear Jodi.

A beautiful service for a beautiful person who had such a full life in regrettably so short a time, It is rare to come across someone who was so universally loved and did so much for others and the world.
We have just watched this beautiful memorial to Jodi with tears in our eyes. She was but a small child when we last saw her before you all went off to begin your new life in Oz.
And what a life she went on to have! The tributes to her are evidence of that.
Marilyn, we know how incredibly proud you are of her and the work she did and our hearts go out to you.

Jodi, I can still remember you vividly as the 5 year old little girl who went to Australia with your mum and dad and older brother Simon to start a new life. At the time I selfishly didn’t want you all to go, but that move was obviously the making of you. The great outdoors was your passion and the tireless work you have done is your legacy. Along the way you touched so many people’s hearts with your warmth and entbusiasm.
Jarrah and Merrin, Jodi loved you so much and she will always be with you.
Your family in Nottingham are always there for you, rain or shine.
Jodi, you were one very special person. I may not have seen that much of you but it was more than enough to recognise a shining example of humanity.
I will always treasure the time Diana and I spent in New Zealand with you and your family. The example you set to Jarrah and Merrin was an inspiration.
You will be missed more than you could ever know.
To my cousin Josh, Jarrah and Merrin and all of Jodi’s family and friends, our hearts ache with you today. Jodi was an amazing human with a wonderful spirit and gentle kind nature.
