Judy had a heartfelt commitment to supporting women experiencing Family & Domestic Violence through her volunteer work at Jireh House (crisis accommodation in Tasmania) and she loved being alongside the many women she felt privileged to meet.

I knew Judy in Tassie, when we were pastoring at Huonville Community Church. She (& Dave) embraced our family as family and we have much love for her and hold the fondest memories.

I remember Judy and the family from Slade Point School. Taught or had the “chiddlers” during sport at the school.
And Judy taught my so at Pioneer HS (such patience).

Dearest Dave and the beautiful Cochran family,
What an uplifting and moving service to honour the life and love of your beloved wife and mother, and our dear angel sister and friend. I trust you know I was with you in spirit, sharing together in your sorrow in the grief of deep loss and rejoicing with your thanksgiving for Judy’s magnificent mission accomplished. You should know how much Judy and you have touched my life and given me the encouragement to become a more loving and compassionate being in face of any challenge, your example will forever shine brightly to guide my days.
Dave, your tribute to your forever soulmate was so special, I will never tire of hearing about how you two fell in love and as you say, the rest is history but what a masterpiece story you’ve written together! Your deep love and devotion for one another is radiant from every page and chapter, and this story has no end, but will continue on the next book. Judy has only skipped ahead a little, but she is always with you and her love will always be yours. I was so moved to hear your beautiful bass voice singing How Great Thou Art, that resonated so powerfully. I know that Judy spirit was right there, hearing you to the last. I feel so secure and at peace knowing that your great faith will always be your source of strength and renewal.
Dave, in the months to come I know that we will have the chance to meet again and I look forward with all my heart to that happy reunion. I feel lucky to call myself a Queenslander now and I believe several of your sons are up here in the Far North, so I am also eager to get to know your family, Judy’s greatest legacy. You are always welcome to our place in Ravenshoe, it’s much changed since you and Judy graced me with your visit (the day you picked up Flossie!) but I will always remember our time together and I am comforted to know that Judy’s spirit is here, too.
Sending you and your dearest family all my love and gratitude for Judy’s radiant life and light. Her love is with you always, and you will carry her with you just as always. Anna and I feel so blessed to have shared the Tasmanian chapter of her story, and we know that we are sisters together always. That makes you our elder brother, Dave, and how we look up to you for wise understanding and compassionate counsel. We love you, Dave. You will be comforted and know everlasting peace.
PS Derek and I are honoured to make a donation to Jireh House in remembrance of Judy. We know Jireh house was one of her many missions of love and service and it is with the same spirit of care for our fellow sisters in need that we respectfully give.
